Sandifer Stories: Decision Day

Wow, glad I finally carved out some time to do some writing! Sorry, it’s been so long since I’ve had a chance to share and interact with you, there have been a lot of things going on in my life, some of them that I will share with you shortly in the coming months.

We arrived at our big decision day this past week where we had to make final determination on if we could find a way to stay here in sunny San Diego or if we were deciding to move on. Our final decision was moving on, we tried hard to stay here (we even put an offer in on a house this past week as well but we couldn’t reach an agreement with the sellers). So we are now officially leaving and packing our bags to Charlotte, NC.

This is big news as we have a lot to do in the next couple of months to pack and figure out the logistics of making a long cross-country move. (Moving Mrs, I will be reading back through your posts as this is now becoming my reality). Our attitude is that this is what we need to do now but we hope to be able to come back to this area some day as we just love the weather and the people out here.

It’s been a bit hard as I’m thinking about the fact that in the fall we won’t be here anymore and that is a strange feeling, it’s kind of surreal. My life feels disrupted and soon I know I will be taken out of my areas of comfort in more ways than one but I think that is a good thing overall, I’m ready for the challenge! I’m also a bit overwhelmed by the enormity of the short-term tasks that we have in front of us, but we will work on making small steps of progress as each week passes.

We plan on moving before the end of June and we should be getting used to our new schedule, in our new place, in the new town around mid-July.  The huge blessing with all of this moving chaos, is that my job stays the same, I will just be transferring to a different office. Luckily, I’m a national resource and support the whole US for the company I’m working for, so it really doesn’t matter what office I sit in (what a relief!)

Have you been to Charlotte, NC, do you have any feedback or experience there you would like to share, I would love to hear from you!

That’s all for now!
